PJ McGinnis, J.D., BS

Biography

PJ McGinnis is a dedicated family law attorney serving clients throughout Montgomery County and Chester County, with a primary focus on divorce, custody, and child support litigation. He is also licensed to serve as a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children in complex custody and dependency or abuse cases.

PJ’s journey in family law began during his senior year of high school when he started working at a local family law firm—a formative experience that sparked a lifelong passion for the field. He continued to build on this foundation throughout his education at Franklin & Marshall College and Villanova Law School, gaining hands-on experience by working with seasoned litigators across the Greater Philadelphia area.

With a client-centered approach, PJ understands that every family law case is as unique as the individuals involved. He brings empathy, insight, and thoughtful advocacy to each matter, always remaining sensitive to the personal circumstances and dynamics that shape each client’s case.

In addition to litigating divorce and custody matters, PJ finds great fulfillment in representing adults and children in adoption proceedings and legal name changes. He recognizes the deeply personal and often joyful nature of these life events and takes pride in guiding clients through the legal process with care and clarity.

PJ is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section, the Montgomery Bar Association Family Law Section, the Chester County Bar Association Family Law Section, and the Doris Jonas Freed Inn of Court. Since 2020, he has provided pro bono consultations through the Women’s Resource Center in Wayne, PA, and continues to serve as a passionate child advocate with the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP) in Norristown, PA.

A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, PJ now lives in Worcester Township with his dog, Terri. Outside of his legal practice, PJ is an avid equestrian who has competed in hunter/jumper events across the country. Although he is currently taking a break from competition, he remains active in the equestrian community, traveling to shows nationwide to support family and friends.
