“They just want to be heard.”
Hannah Feehery, who works with kids both one-on-one and in groups at The Center, shares some of her thoughts with us about grieving children. In her experience, she has found that taking time to get to know each child is key. She says, “Kids don’t oftentimes get the chance to just talk about themselves, so they really value that.” She follows their pace; as they become more comfortable, they open up about their grief when they feel ready. A lot of the work she does with children involves helping them expand their emotional vocabulary, as well as exploring how they have coped with difficult emotions in the past.
Thank you Hannah for all of the amazing work you do!
